Law: Barrister Usha Rani Sood, the voice for the voiceless, to grace the exclusive screening of #CSH as a VIP, at The Arc Cinema on 8th May@730pm.

“A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others.” -Douglas MacArthur
After making waves in West London, #CSH returns to the Director's hometown, please see the trailer below;
The name Usha Rani Sood is synonymous with, human rights, justice, and family rights. Usha Rani Sood, is no stranger to the people of Nottingham, she is known to many as a courageous, inspiring and compassionate barrister and human being. The Usha Rani Sood, we have all come to know, love and respect, was born out of the early challenges she has had to face.

After graduating from law school in 1974, Usha Rani Sood, began her illustrious career not in the courtroom, but rather in the lecture theatres of Nottingham Trent University. She was a Senior Law Lecturer and taught, inter alia, public law, family law, immigration and private international law for 37 years, until retiring in 2008.

Usha’s foray into human rights and public law, occurred in 1991, when she decided to undertake a “pro bono” case. The plight of 7 refugee children, whose father had been deported, while the mother and the children were also about to be deported. This brought the compassionate Usha out of her comfort zone. At the time of taking on this case, little did Usha know, that it will take 20 years for the case to see a resolution. With her compassion and tenacity, Usha managed to save the children from deportation, but not their mother. This did not deter Usha, she continued to fight the case, and it took all but 20 years to successfully reunite the children with their parents.

In 1992, Usha formed Trent Chambers, bringing onto her team, barristers and lawyers who share her passion and vision for Human Rights, Immigration, Justice and Family Law. Usha has been the voice for the voiceless, she assisted on the Female Genital Mutilation and Trafficking legislation. More recently, from 2019-20, she was a specialist adviser to the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Domestic Abuse Bill (now enacted) and was instrumental in preventing an amendment to the proposed legislation increasing the threshold of proof for abused migrant women.
Usha has, and continues to be on many interviews, panels and even providing her expertise on legislation. She indeed is the beacon of hope for many, she in her lifetime has used her knowledge of the law, to create a better, fairer system for those who faced or continue to face, discrimination, oppression and denial of basic human rights. Usha Rani Sood is not just a compassionate person, she is a force to be reckoned with in the legal world.

The film which highlights the importance of L words we overlook in our lives, the presence of Usha Rani Sood, is a reminder of how we can use the law responsibly to overcome situations and difficulties in our lives.
It is with great pride, the production team of Haresh Sood Films, invite, Usha Rani Sood for the exclusive screening of Cama Sood Hara in Beeston.
