After the overwhelming response across the UK, Ireland and Scotland, Cama Sood Hara is about to mesmerise the audience in the North-West of England in Preston, Lancashire at the VIP screening at the Arc Cinema on 15th August 2025. See the trailer below.

Nirmal Singh, MBE, is a well-known figure in the North West, especially so in the Sikh community. At 74, he doesn’t believe in retirement, he continues to volunteer his time as the Sikh Chaplain for Lancashire Teaching Hospital Preston, and Chorley & South Ribble Hospital.

Nirmal Singh’s (MBE) journey began when he arrived in England, 47 years ago. He began his journey in England working as an Environmentalist, ESL teacher, and Community Education Worker for the Education Department of Lancashire County Council.

As an academic he further went on to contribute to the research project on redundant Asian workers from textile mills in various parts of Lancashire. The work was later published by the Commission for Racial Equality in the book entitled “In search of Employment and Training.”  This work was so revolutionary and later led to many training courses for reskilling redundant textile workers, to increase their chances of re-employment in other fields.

3 years after arriving in England in 1981, he began his career with Social Services Directorate of Lancashire County Council as the first Asian Social Worker thus pioneering work with minority ethnic communities, raising awareness and increasing access to social care services for these communities.  This certainly paved the way for others in other minority ethnic communities to seek a career in social services.

In the same year, Nirmal Singh (MBE), led and helped the Sikh Community in Preston, establish Guru Nanak (Gurdwara) Cultural and Recreational Centre, which continues to provide services to the Sikh and other communities of Lancashire and beyond. This led him to establishing the first Punjabi language class for children at the Centre in 1983. This later spread further, and many children and some adults passed the GCSE exams in Punjabi.

Nirmal Singh’s (MBE) journey in the Social Services sector, brought about immense change and development to the people directly and indirectly impacted by his work.  During his time with the Social Services sector, Nirmal Singh was seconded to Manchester University, where he obtained a Diploma in Economic and Social Studies and CQSW (Certificate of Qualification in Social Work).  Whilst he progressed in his career from Policy Development Officer to Policy Development Manager he further went on to obtain a MBA from University of Hull in 1998 and finally retired as a Strategic Development Manager in 2010.

Since 1981, Nirmal Singh (MBE) has been involved in various volunteer work within and outside the Sikh community. He has brought the understanding of the Sikh faith to various schools, colleges and universities in Lancashire and Manchester. In addition to this, he also has been providing Punjabi language and Sikh Studies Classes in Manchester and pastoral and spiritual support to the community.

Nirmal Singh (MBE) is no stranger to the world of television, he is known for his work as a TV presenter for the Sikh faith and Sikh Issue based programs on the Sikh Channel on Sky Television, as well as, appearing as a Sikh representative on mainstream TV & Radio programmes.
