Literacy: Change Maker Barkha Rani, to attend Exclusive North-West Red Carpet Premiere of Cama Sood Hara, in Preston, Arc Cinema, 15th August 2025, in celebration of India's Independence Day, at 7pm.

“Encouraging a child means that one or more of the following critical life messages are coming through, either by word or by action: I believe in you, I trust you, I know you can handle this, You are listened to, You are cared for, You are very important to me.” ~ Barbara Coloroso.
After the overwhelming response across the UK, Ireland and Scotland, Cama Sood Hara is about to mesmerise the audience in the North-West of England in Preston, Lancashire at the VIP screening at the Arc Cinema on 15th August 2025. See the trailer below.

Barkha Rani, is well-known across Lancashire for her work with children and the larger Preston Community. Barkha believes very strongly that "if we nurture children well in their early years, we shape a better, more compassionate society."
Before permanently settling in the UK, in 2007, Barkha worked in India on World Bank funded projects for women’s empowerment, utilising her MBA for social change. After having moved to the UK, Barkha realised the profound impact early childhood education has on children. She then decided to retrain herself through the Masters degree program in Early Childhood education from UCLan. Her passion and commitment to developing young minds, allowed her to begin a new journey focused on children and families.

Barkha’s journey with young minds began as she volunteered at a local children’s centre, supporting toddler groups, dads’ groups, and nursery work. This laid the foundation for her leadership in early years education. She later took over the nursery attached to the centre and co-founded another nursery with her friend Savannah. In 2023, she opened a new nursery that truly reflects her values – “a place where children thrive through outdoor play, early STEM learning, in a nurturing, home like environment that helps children feel safe, curious, and confident.”

Barkha is deeply passionate about community connection and cultural celebrations. She has played a pivotal role in organising various cultural events like Diwali, Holi and International Women’s Day in Preston. She strongly believes that such events help in not just strengthening relationships but also bringing people together in more meaningful ways.

One of the most cherished initiatives that Barkha is part of is Saree Spree, an annual event that celebrates tradition, identity, and unity. Barkha helps in leading this annual event, yet she believes it is a collective effort of the many women, who make it a beautiful event with their energy and presence. Her work, besides bringing her many accolades, also got her recognised by the Lancashire Post. To read more, click here.

Haresh Sood, Barrister Filmmaker together with the production crew are truly humbled to have a change maker like Barkha Rani grace the premiere of #CSH in Preston.
One of the themes in the film focusses on Haresh being trained teacher, resonates deeply with the importance of Literacy, something that Barkha truly stands for and emphasises in her work.
