LIFT: JOY DOAL, CEO OF ANAWIN, TO ATTEND AS A VIP GUEST AT THE BIRMINGHAM PREMIERE OF #CSH, THIS DIWALI AT THE MIDLANDS ARTS CENTRE (MAC), ON SUNDAY the 19th OCTOBER 2025 AT 5PM.
After the overwhelming response across the UK, Ireland, Scotland and internationally, Cama Sood Hara by Barrister and Filmmaker Haresh Sood, is about to mesmerise the audience in the West Midlands of England in Birmingham, at the VIP screening on 19 October at the MAC. See the trailer below.

Joy Doal started work in hairdressing and then worked in the South Asian community involved in services for women such as playgroups, stay & play, ESOL classes, advice & pregnancy centres, home visiting & toy library. Supporting women in abusive relationships and marriages, through sexual abuse, rape and prostitution, Joy helped young women avoid forced marriage, through extremely difficult crisis pregnancies plus empowering them by teaching English.

She then set up a safe house to provide accommodation and a supportive family environment for Asian women who were fleeing forced marriage or domestic abuse, this ran for 7 years taking referrals nationally often from the Police.
Joy has worked for Anawim for the last 22 years, the charity has a large centre offering a full timetable of courses and structured support, prison in-reach, outreach and a purpose-built residential unit for women.
Anawim offers support to women at all stages of the criminal justice system from prevention, diversion, community sentences, alternatives to custody and in the intensive Supervision court. Anawim is based in Balsall Heath and has an open access drop in where any woman can attend with any issue. High numbers of women access from the South Asian communities some of whom are suffering domestic abuse from not only intimate partners but family members too.
The film highlights the words beginning with 'L', which we overlook to overcome challenges in our lives. Joy who is the perfect person who has helped many women 'Lift' themselves out of dark situations to rebuild their lives can be read about by clicking the article image.
