‘My Niece’s Big Fat Delhi Wedding’ has been inspired by the hit film ‘Monsoon Wedding’. The film showcases the Delhi high life of the Kohli family who live in its suburb called Gurugram. Filmed over a 10-day period, the documentary demonstrates all the ‘C’ words of an Indian wedding - the ‘charisma’, the ‘chaos’, the ‘crying’, the ‘colour’, and its ceremonies such as ‘choora’ and ‘caleeray’, and above all the comedy!

Haresh Sood who graduated with a distinction in his MA in filmmaking, opens a window into the rich high end of Delhi life to the rest of the world. The documentary trails Haresh’s niece, Nitasha Kohli-Arora, whose wedding was one of Delhi’s finest and most lavish.
Haryana’s Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar attended to give his blessings upon the invitation of Harvind Kohli, Nitasha’s father and prominent Politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Gurugram and Haryana State.
Haresh has a journalism and acting background starting with the BBC in 1994. The film has made media headlines and received enormous coverage on various networks globally including the BBC.
Haresh has worked on various projects and received awards including Tomorrow’s Lawyer Award 2001. He is a former judge of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Awards for Unsung Heroes 2004.
Haresh says, “Having qualified and worked in several disciplines, film was one world I always had a passion to explore. Going to film school has been the most amazing and incredible experience. I have to say a special thanks to my course director, film producer Colin Pons and filmmaker tutor Saskia Wilson who encouraged me to pursue my dream.
I also want to acknowledge Mira Nair, the filmmaker of ‘Monsoon Wedding’, a masterpiece film which inspired me to go on this journey. The idea for the story came to me when I went to India in 2017 following which I decided to do an MA in filmmaking to bring my vision into a reality. I hope people continue to enjoy the film
