Filmmaker Haresh and pet Pancho host premiere in Peterhead
READ: Article on The Scotsman
Cama Sood Hara has not only surprised the British film industry, it’s now left a Scottish audience mesmerised.
Cama Sood Hara had beaten Mark Wahlberg's film Flight Risk in its opening weekend at Arc Cinemas in January in Nottingham, and it is now being shown amongst some of the biggest films of the year such as F1, A Complete Unknown and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. Therefore, it’s no surprise this film is only gaining popularity and love as it travels nationally and internationally.
The Scottish screening left the audience in deep conversation with each other, whilst learning the nuances and subtleties that affect one’s choice to get married in any culture.
The Peterhead screening was attended by VIP guests, including Aileen Grant, a Peterhead-based counsellor.
She said: “I was honoured to attend the premiere of CSH. Haresh took us on a journey full of love, loss, learning, and laughter. We were intrigued, inquisitive, interested, but never indifferent, to share his journey of discovery.”
Stuart Flowerdew, of Adam and Flowerdew and Reynolds, solicitors and estate agents, said: “I absolutely loved the film. It’s always fascinating to hear the story of a charismatic man. It was wonderful too, and had a great message. I thoroughly recommend it.”
Banffshire and Buchan Coast MSP Karen Adam was delighted the Scottish premiere was in a town in her constituency.
“I’m so pleased this film made a stop in Peterhead,” she said. “Stories like these, told through an international lens, bring fresh perspectives and remind us how much we can learn from different cultures and experiences.
“Sharing diverse voices helps strengthen our own communities here in the North-east, and I’m delighted to see filmmakers choosing to bring that richness directly to local audiences.”
Haresh hosted a Q&A after the screening, and he had his audience mesmerised by his story telling, wittingly and cleverly woven into the various themes of the documentary. As the audience moved from one emotion to the next, they were left with questions to reflect upon.
They were asked to ponder upon the system of marriage, their own relationships and their own beliefs with regards to the institution of marriage, regardless of their cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
Through the film, Haresh has asked us to reflect if the transition to marriage is a personal choice, or a social construct. The film places a microscopic lens onto the universal system of marriage, debunking many myths about marriage, through Haresh’s own journey of love, loss and everything in between. Audiences ultimately decide for themselves if happiness and marriage are interlinked.
Through this documentary, Haresh shows us the power of self-love, and how happiness is not dependent on others, but upon one’s self.
As Haresh found his own voice, against internal and external conflicts, he gently leads the audience to find their own larynx, by looking within and paying attention to the ‘L’ words we all often overlook or take for granted in our lives.
Through his fresh approach to an age-old subject, Haresh cleverly turned the spotlight onto the champions of marriage, regardless of the cultures they represent, provoking them to introspect upon the institution of marriage. The documentary goes on to explain the “I” theory, which expounds on why relationships work or fail.
This film has been shot in five countries – UK, India, Kuwait, Spain and Norway – with a cast and crew of 250 people. Throughout the film, audiences can experience breathtaking scenery, and melodious tunes from artists globally.
Haresh and his buddy Pancho, are touring with the film – and following his on-screen debut, Pancho is giving ‘pawtographs’ to his mesmerised audiences!
